Purpose

House of Hope was created to provide a safe, comfortable temporary home like setting for children during a time of crisis after abuse has occurred. These children often suffer abuse in the forms of drug endangerment, physical, sexual, emotional, environmental, educational & medical.

Mission

To assist the Department of Children’s Services and other child welfare and law enforcement agencies of the state of Tennessee in order to reduce trauma, prevent, protect, and provide aid to children who have become victims of child abuse and neglect, and any other collateral activity affecting the welfare, health, safety, and protection of children.

Vision

To continue to offer services and education specifically tailored to meet the ever-changing needs of families and children in collaboration with other agencies and organizations in our community so we may provide the best possible outcome in order reduce childhood trauma and stop the cycle of generational abuse and neglect.

Why we do what we do...

In loving memory of hope a. manning

August 17, 1997 – December 13, 2002

Below these words were found on a daily calendar of encouragement, and just so happen to fall on Hope’s Birthday. Hope was a victim of child abuse, and her death devastated our entire community. From this horrible tragedy many positive changes were made as to how agencies and law enforcement handle child abuse cases  so we may better protect our children, and one of the reasons House of Hope was created and why we carry the name Hope.  We can never do enough to give back what was lost, but the hope of saving more children is what gives us the energy to carry on.  “And a child shall lead them”.

Hope is a wonderful gift from God,

a source of strength and courage in the face of life’s harshest trials.

When we are trapped in a tunnel of misery,

hope points to the light at the end.

When we are overworked and exhausted,

hope gives us fresh energy.

When we are discouraged,

 hope lifts our spirts.

When we are tempted to quit,

hope keeps going.

    Ms. I. Jones

    Recipient

In the beginning of 2021, my hot water heater went out and I was having to heat water on the stove to give my grandchildren baths. I am on a fixed income and could not afford a replacement. Not too long after this my central heat and air went out; I was having to use space heaters to heat the house. I own my modular home, so all expenses were left up to me. I am on disability and my income is very low. Ms. Melton the Executive Director with the House of Hope was able to replace everything for me because of the unexpected funds earmarked for the House of Hope Grace Program. This made such a huge difference in our life. I have taken care of my grandchildren since they were very young. They are now 10 and 12 years old. Thank you so much for your help.

Volunteering at House of Hope gave me and my husband a renewed passion for helping others. The HoH team made the process so easy, and it feels great knowing we're impacting the lives of these wonderful kids!
